Original Watercolour Painting by Malcolm Davies GRA.
Here we see a Brilliner streetcar No 6, operated by Red Arrow Lines in Philadelphia, USA. The car has just arrived at the Media terminus.
The scene is from the 1950's with all the associated shops, buidlings and cars around.
The driver of the streetcar is setting it up for the return journey to 69th Street. As can be seen both 'trolleys' are in contact with the overhead. This was done so that power to the car wasn't lost if you removed one trolley before raising the second. A changeover switch would have been used to swap current collection from one trolley to the other.
Whilst the car and the scene have long disappeared the streetcars still run to media in the 2020's.
The painting comes mounted (approx size 50 x 40cm)
