The subject is Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson RAF.
He was the leader of the famous 'Dambusters' raid during WW2 and received the highest gallantry award for his heroics, the Victoria Cross (VC). He also won the Distinguished Service Order (DS)) twice and the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) twice.
Sadly he lost his life, along with his navigator whilst flying a Mosquito, over the Netherlands in 1944.
The actual painted image is 27 x 18 cms and once mounted would frame up around the 50 x 40 cms size.
The painting comes mounted (50 x 40 cms) if purchased in the UK and unmounted if purchased outside the UK (Due to postal size limits from the UK).
