A Bit About Me

I studied art at school in the early 1970's and my early paintings were all aircraft based. As my interests changed I moved on to motor cycles and then to cars.

My first commission was gained in 1978 and was for a Jensen CV8. In the years since this first commission, my artwork has gone all-round the world and has covered many of the major marques, from modern to vintage.

Through a commission completed for a local accountant I became involved with the UK Ferrari owners club in 1982. A large amount of work has come from owners since then and my work has also appeared in their club magazine and in an Italian originated magazine called Ferrari World in the late 80's early 90's.

I have also completed many works for the GB Porsche Owners club members since the late 90's.

Since the late 90's I have received many commissions for non car related subjects, such as trams, buses, trolleybuses, maritime, people, wild animals and many rail based subjects.

October 2019 - I was successful in my application to became an Associate Member of the Guild of Railway Artists. My artwork was judged by a group of my peers as of a sufficiently high standard to be admitted to the Guild.

January 2021 - I became an Associate Member of the Guild of Motoring Artists.

March 2021 - My watercolour of an abandoned Ex AMTRAK EMD 9a locomotive chosen as winner in the UK "The Artist" magazine competition based on the word 'Silence'. See the 'Abandoned' page for a picture of this painting.

October 2022 - I became a Full Member of the Guild of Railway Artists, and entitled to the Post Nominal letters GRA.

May 2023 - My painting of the Third Avenue Rail System streetcar in 1940's New York as chosen in the Artist Category of the TALP (The Artist & Leisure Painter) 2023 Open competition to appear in the Patching's Art Festival exhibition.

June 2023 - My painting of the 7 times NASCAR champion Richard Petty's Plymouth Superbird has been included in the Cobleskill - Richmondville High School, New York, USA 2022/2023 Yearbook. The theme for the yearbook was 'Back on Track' reflecting the post Covid return to normality and throughout included a motor sport theme. After seeing my artwork online I was pleased to be asked by the yearbook organiser if it could be used.
